Don Armstrong

Don was born 6 Dec 1919 (in New York City) and died 27 Feb 2000 in Macks Creek, Missouri. Throughout his entire life he was extremely active with promoting and teaching nearly all types of folk dancing. He could teach rounds, contra and squares with equal ease and was just as good doing singing squares or patter calls. Don has written such classics as “Trail of the Lonesome pine;” “Back to Donegal” and “Trade Winds.”

The recordings on this cd comes from Don´s own band called The Quadrilles which consisted of the following members: Jack and Althea Beck, Evan and Kay White and Don Armstrong – Don was playing the drums in the band. I think this is a complete collection of what Don Armstrong and The Quadrilles have recorded.
