Floyd Woodhull

Just south of Ontario, in central New York State, caller Floyd Woodhull and his “Old Time Masters” orchestra kept dances active night after night with original singing calls such as “My Little Girl” and “Hot Time in the Old Town Tonight” – which have become almost traditional throughout the East and Southwest, and also in the area of the Western Square Dance all the way to the Pacific Ocean. Woodhull’s Decca album with calls was one of the first on the market, and the 12-inch 78rpm record Soldiers Joy / Blackberry Quadrille of this album was, for many callers the first useful phonograph record of square dance music with calls.
On this recording you will hear some of Floyd’s most popular calls.
